Monte Carlo portal dosimetry for segmented IMRT verification using the SLIC

چکیده

By comparing predicted dose images with physically acquired images, radiotherapy fields may be verified. A good portal dose verification chain should be accurate and unrestricted in terms of gantry angle and patient-imager air gap distance. We present latest enhancements and rigorous tests of a portal dose prediction framework based on Monte Carlo (MC) radiation transport. We also present initial results on pre-treatment verification of segmented intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) using the scanning liquid ionisation chamber (SLIC) EPID. Despite its slow frame rate and nonintegrating detection, untapped potential remains, e.g. by combining strategicallyorganised sequence templates, which can be very useful in treatment verification.
